Terms and Conditions 

1. This competition is open to all New Zealand residents.

2. All information detailing how to enter this competition forms part of these terms and conditions. It is a condition of entry that all rules be accepted as final and that the competitor agrees to abide by these rules. Submission of an entry will be taken to mean acceptance of these terms and conditions.

3.  The theme of the competition is “Mexico” This does not necessarily mean that the photographs must be taken in Mexico, but they must say something about the country.

4. There is no limit on the number of images that may be submitted.

5. Entries should be submitted by email (mexico@xtra.co.nz). Each one must be labelled with the entrant’s name and image files must be 300 dpi and over 1MB. Entrants should also include their address, telephone number and a title for the picture. Photographers with analogue images are encouraged to participate by scanning their images into a digital file that meets the submission requirements.

Note on Digital Manipulation: Although digitally manipulated entries are permitted, we ask that you note the digital techniques used to create the picture in the description of your photo. The judges will not discriminate against digital images but the contestant must disclose that such digital editing has occurred.

6. All entries must be received by 30 July 2010.

7. All images submitted must be the work of the individual sending them and they must own the copyright. It is the responsibility of each entrant to ensure that any images they submit have been taken with the permission of the subject and do not infringe the copyright of any third party or any laws.

8. Copyright of all images submitted for this competition remains with the respective entrants. However, as a condition of entry, each entrant grants a worldwide, irrevocable, perpetual licence to the “Embassy of Mexico in New Zealand” and to the “Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores de México” to feature any or all of the submitted images in their publications, exhibitions, on their websites and/or in any promotional material.

9. Late, incomplete, defaced or corrupt entries will not be accepted. No responsibility can be taken for lost entries and proof of transmission will not be accepted as proof of receipt. Entries must not be sent through agencies or third parties.

10.  Judging:

Winning photos will be selected by the following judges, whose decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into:

The winner will be notified within seven days of the closing date of the competition.  
 
11. Prizes: 1st prize – Digital Camera Olympus SP800ys; 2nd prize – APPLE iPod Touch 8GB; 3rd Prize – Digital Camera Samsung ES25. All prizes are non transferable and there are no cash alternatives.

12. Right to Cancel or Suspend Contest

If for any reason the contest is not capable of running as planned, due to infection by computer virus, bugs, worms, Trojan horses, denial of service attacks, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of the Embassy of Mexico that corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this contest, the Embassy of Mexico reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to terminate, modify, or suspend the contest. Should this occur, the entrant agrees that the Embassy will in no way be liable. In such a scenario, no prizes will be awarded. If the Embassy of Mexico elects to terminate the contest under any of the circumstances described above, it will not retain any rights to the submitted photographs.
