The orchestra was founded in 2000 by maestro Alejandro Iglesias Rossi and stems from a lifetime of study and application based on the fundamental belief that the native instruments of the Americas should be treated with the same ontological dignity as those inherited from the European tradition and current digital technology.

The musicians that make up this Orchestra are members of the Electronic Arts Department and the New Musical Technologies Master’s Program at the National University Tres de Febrero of Argentina.  The array of instruments used span the Pre-Colombian Era (Mesoamerican and Andean Civilisations) as well as the Spanish and Modern eras.

Radio New Zealand is dedicating a program to the Orchestra with interviews with its members and broadcasting a live concert on the 9th of March.
